Why

I often use pictures to inspire me and get my brain moving. For a long time I’ve wanted a way to instantly look at an image on my iPad with no annoying little steps.

For instance, I do have all my images in Photos, but every time I want to see that one picture I must:

  • scroll though thousands of thumbnails
  • Select the image
  • Tap the screen to get rid of the white surroundings
  • And Photos NEVER remembers how I had it zoomed last time!

Once I have that picture up, Photos doesn’t remember how I had it zoomed the last time.

And if I’m zoomed in and try to go to another image, I have to scroll to the side of the image before I'm allowed to swipe to the next one.

Funny ...

This all started as a way for me to quickly view one image.

That took a day.

Then I thought, why not show a bunch of images?

That took a few more days.

Then I wondered if other people might like something like this too: nice, streamlined and easy to use?

Fourteen months later ...

I created Photo Pocket for me and I love it. Yes, I’m biased, but I’m also impossibly fussy (my wife uses a different word).

Regardless, I hope you'll love it too :)

My favourite things?

  • When I open Photo Pocket, it shows the last image I was looking at, exactly the way I left it.
  • If I swipe to another image, I don’t have to worry about messing up the zoom.

All the other stuff is just to keep everything organized and tweakable.

Oh ... and slideshows. I love slideshows. That Ken Burns effect amuses me to no end.

Enjoy!

  • scroll though thousands of thumbnails

Or

  • Open the side menu
  • Scroll down and find the right album
  • In that album, select the picture
  • Tap the screen to get rid of the white surroundings
